eNAFTA Certificate of Origin                                 Return to eTFP

INV + Data = COON

NAFTA Certificate of Origin

The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Certificate of Origin allows substantial benefits for importers and exporters in Mexico, Canada, and the United States for goods originating in the three nations.  These benefits of Customs duty reduction and elimination depend upon an exporter’s declaration of the origin of the goods call the NAFTA Certificate of Origin.  This certificate must be completed by the U.S. exporter, and must be in the possession of the Canadian or Mexican importer at the time the declaration is made to Customs.  The U.S. exporter is responsible for determining the eligibility of the goods for NAFTA treatment and for providing the importer with the certificate.

eNAFTA Certificate of Origin Trade Function

The eNAFTA Certificate of Origin (COON) is the electronic document equivalent of the NAFTA Certificate of Origin.  It is created using the same information generated by the seller.  It is used for creating an electronic version of the certificate.
